The South African Marine Predator Lab was conceived through the vision of Marine Scientists not only to study the marine world’s natural wonders, but also to conserve them. With a plethora of the world's most awe-inspiring ocean predators cruising Southern Africa’s coastal and offshore waters, SAMPLA’s mission can be described in four words: Explore, Discover, Understand and Conserve these marine marvels. Through rigorous science, inspiring expeditions, enlightening media projects, and education we strive to reach these goals.

New Blog Update

On Monday 11th August, a SAMPLA team including Ryan, Ed, Christine, Nico and Amy anchored by Seal Island to do some chumming. We were lucky enough to see more sharks than we had done for a while and they had decided to be bold and playful. Amy took the bait rope and was able to lure the sharks close to the boat...
